Going paperless: Greater Manchester Electronic Clinical Correspondence (GMECC), from hospitals to GPs through the Greater Manchester Hub
Dan Alexander, Project Manager, Greater Manchester Commissioning Support Unit (GMCSU)
Meeting the government’s aim of a paperless NHS, NHS Trusts in Greater Manchester are moving away from using paper to send discharge summaries and other items of clinical correspondence to local GP practices across the 12 CCGs. Rapid progress is being made to remove paper completely from the processes used to send in excess of 5 million clinical letters a year from acute, mental health and community trusts to primary care.
